Message type: mailer
Message tone: negative
About the message: Congressman Jared Polis accuses former state Treasurer Cary Kennedy of "running false, negative attack ads" in this mailer and asks "Can Cary Kennedy be trusted?" They are two of the four Democrats competing in the June 26 gubernatorial primary.
However, Kennedy is not airing or mailing attack ads. The TV ads and mailers come from super PAC Teachers for Kennedy, which is supposed to be acting independently of Kennedy's campaign. 9News has concluded similar allegations are false. And they note that Polis signed a clean campaign pledge as did Kennedy, but is now airing negative ads against her, as is a super PAC supporting him.
The mailer also says Kennedy opposes Medicare for all, though her website says she supports universal health care. She did lose the 2010 contest for reelection as state treasurer to Walker Stapleton, one of four GOP candidates running for governor.
