Message tone: positive
About the message:
This mailer from nonprofit Healthier Colorado urges the recipient to call Sen. Rhonda Fields, an Aurora Democrat, to encourage her to vote in favor of a public otion health care plan. The recipient, however, lives in Denver, not in Fields' district.
While Gov. Jared Polis and Democratic lawmakers planned to itroduce a public option health care plan, the legislature went on haitus March 14 because of COVID-19. They are scheduled to return March 30, but it's unclear if that will occur. The mailer says the public option will reduce premium costs and increase health care options for Coloradans.
Meanwhile, Partnership for America's Health Care Future, a coalition of health care, insurance and business groups, has spent more than $1.6 million on TV ads and mailers to oppose the public option.
About the messenger:
Healthier Colorado is a nonprofit advocating for a state public option health care plan that would provide coverage for all Coloradans.
The messenger's money:
Because it is a nonprofit, Healthier Colorado doesn't have to reveal its donors, making it a dark money group.
