Message type: mailer

Message tone: negative

About the message:

This mailer from the Colorado Republican Committee is another in a series of mailers criticizing Jason Crow, the Democrat challenging U.S. Rep. Mike Coffman in the 6th CD, for clients he's represented as a defense attorney.

CBS4's Reality Check calls part of a similar TV ad misleading, noting that Crow represented a variety of clients. Crow is an Army veteran who did tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.

It's also worth checking this Truth Test from 9News to get context on the smears against Crow. Coffman has made similar charges in TV ads, which the Denver Post clarified.

About the messenger:

The Colordado Republican Committee is the federal fundraising arm of the Colorado Republican Party.

The messenger's money:

This federal political party committee may take up to $10,000 in individual donations. About $225,414 of those donations came from a federal joint fundraising committee, the Stapleton Victory Fund, which is supporting Republican gubernatorial candidate Walker Stapleton.
